Hi!!..i'm pj, and i'm an adult with ADHD. I am a 'jack of all trades' and only consider myself a master at sewing.
Have you ever been to the zoo when they have the butterfly exhibits...and 2000 different winged creatures are gliding and swooping---zig zagging back and forth? Well...that's how my head feels...each one of the butterflies is an idea..a project..a 'don't forget' or a "i wanna do.." and they keep bumping into each other in mid-flight so i seldom actually get anything finished. If i don't get them OUT, my brain is going to EXPLODE. lol...and so, i think up 'projects', and 'questions', and 'challenges',and........................
now, before you go thinking that ADHD is a problem.......STOP. it's not. ADHD is a gift...i have experienced and learned more in my life time than 10 non-adhd people will do in thiers. I have been all over the world because i couldn't stop moving. I have learned every craft there is (with the exception of hand knitting) cause i just had to try.
I read.........constantly........ I write....constantly.... I love teaching, photography, history, cooking, children, nature, God, sewing, biking, hiking, ........and the list goes on.
Once a person learns to cope with ADHD...once they figure out how to tame thier butterflies....it is an asset. I am leader to several girl scout troops---all at the same time. I am a 4-H leader, and the VP for our Rock Club...and i work for my dh's business, and i try to keep up with 7 daughters and 4 gkids, and my support lists, and the list goes on....and sometimes, when i forget to 'tame' my butterflies....i deal with depression. Such is life....Attitude!...one day at a time...one butterfly fluttering by at a time. :)
today's to-do list
I will not have a temper tantrum nor stomp across the floor....
I will not pout, scream or shout or kick against the door....
I will not throw my food around nor pick upon another....
I'll always try to be real good because I am the mother.
(who said this? well, I'll don't know. If you do.... Please tell me so!)
